An Invaluable Privilege — The Words of Nathalie Gallon

After several discussions and exchanges with Nathalie Gallon, one thing became clear to me: as an artist, it is a genuine privilege to have an art critic of her stature who so profoundly understands my work. Her article, Extension of the Lacquer Domain, marked a pivotal moment for me.

Nathalie wrote: “This process is characterised by successive applications of multiple layers, each layer requiring complete drying, except in certain areas.” With these simple words, she managed to express the meticulousness, patience, and passion required by lacquer, in a manner that makes this complex technique accessible to everyone.

She also highlighted the delicate balance I strive to achieve in each piece: “A play of tensions that animates the creative forces,” she wrote. These words truly capture the dance between rigour and freedom that I experience with every creation. It is an immense privilege to have someone like Nathalie bring this depth of understanding to my work, and I am infinitely grateful to her.

I am Claire Lassonnery, visual artist, and I can’t wait to make your emotions resonate in person.
