Deciding is also knowing when to stop.
In my work there is a moment when the piece slows down on its own.
The surface settles. The gesture withdraws. The whole holds.
Oil and pigment on canvas does not lie about when it is finished.
I recognize that point. The painting goes to the framer. And I move on.
Atmospheric abstraction is built on this decision — the willingness to stop before the surface loses what it has found.
